Transportation and Infrastructure
Moving people and goods efficiently around our community and throughout our region is critical to the success of Langley's business. People need to get to work, goods need to get to stores, and exports need to make it to market. By advocating for investments in roads, borders, ports and public transit, we’re helping build a more connected Langley.
The Langley Chamber has advocated for and supported efforts to extend SkyTrain to Langley for over 10 years. We are pleased to see work underway as we aim for a 2028 opening of the new line and two stations in Langley.

The Gloucester business district in north-east Langley is home to many of Langley's largest businesses and their thousands of employees. However, this area is completely unserved by transit, and severely underserved by the road network.
Currently, no bus service operated in the Gloucester district. This has exacerbated labour challenges as workers or potential candidates who use transit are excluded from working in this area. The area also is accessed primarily by a decades-old overpass with only one lane in each direction, causing significant backup when accessing the district. This, coupled with the broader congestion on Highway 1, makes access in and out of Gloucester a challenge.
- Langley Chamber Surveys Gloucester Businesses
- The Langley Chamber has been surveying businesses in the Gloucester area to get data on the number of employees, where they travel to work from, and the importance of transit to them. This information will be used to advocate directly with Translink and the BC government for better service
- Langley Chamber Meets with Translink CEO, Presses Gloucester Transit Fix
- In a private meeting with the new CEO of Translink in the fall of 2022, the Langley Chamber and members of its Board of Directors pressed the need to finally address the lack of service in the Gloucester district.
Highway 1 is a critical corridor used by 80,000 vehicles per day, and is crucial to the movement of goods and services in, out and through Langley and the region. But a lack of capacity means the highway is regularly congested, creating 1.5 to 2 hour commutes from the Fraser Valley into Vancouver. The Langley Chamber has been actively engaging with and advocating to the provincial government on the Highway 1 expansion project
