The Count Down to 2010 ~
Procurement Opportunities for Businesses
Presented by the 2010 Olympics Community Committee
The procurement process for the acquisition of goods and services will be an open and public process. Public tenders will be employed for larger acquisitions. Vancouver 2010 has developed their website with the aim of providing information about prospective procurement activities.

In the very early stages, much of what is acquired by Vancouver 2010 will be related to the office operations of the organization, construction activities, including design, environmental work, etc. and Games specific expertise for early planning. As planning develops and procurement processes are finalized, it is expected that Vancouver 2010 will be in a position to identify its needs well in advance of the actual procurement.

Businesses interested in supplying goods or services to Vancouver 2010 should continue to monitor the development of the Organizing Committee. As the procurement function is developed, Vancouver 2010 will be better able to communicate when specific goods and services are required through its website and other tools.

At present, Vancouver 2010 is focusing its procurement activities in areas where an immediate need exists. Where significant activity is anticipated, RFPs may be issues and made through their website (www.vancouver2010.com).

The Province of British Columbia has compiled some information to assist businesses in taking advantage of the opportunities arising from the Games. This can be accessed at http://www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca/open.dll/welcome
